CVA Photo Competition – Announcing the Winners

The Commonwealth Veterinary Association would like to thank the many entrants in the CVA photo competition.

The photographs were judged by the following people:

  • Dr Sarah Eytle from Jamaica – CVA President
  • Dr Dianne Phillips from Australia – CVA Treasurer
  • Dr Joshua Ngwisha from Zambia – CVA Communications Coordinator
  • Dr Olatunji Nasir from Nigeria – CVA Immediate Past President
  • Dr Abdul Rahman from India – CVA Executive Director
  • Dr Jeff Cave from Australia – CVA Secretary

We all had varying opinions as to which were the best of the over 400 photos entered. There were no clear winners in any of the categories. However, by the rules of the competition where our votes counted equally with a score of 3-2-1 for 1st-2nd-3rd for each of the three categories we can declare the following winners.

Human / Animal Bond Category

The winner of the human / animal bond category is Joel Itangirubuntu of Rwanda for the photo with the caption “Amidst the golden greenland, a friendship blooms where words are silent but hearts converse.”

Usefulness of Animals Category

The winner of the usefulness of animals to people category is Naresh Prasad of Nepal “Lifeline of the Himalayas.”

Natural Beauty of Animals Category

The winner of the natural beauty of animals category is Liselotte Kars of Belgium “Highland cow on the island of Vlieland.”
